About Mr Nigeria

Mr Nigeria is also known as the male version of Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN), while Mr Nigeria is not as popular or consistent as MBGN , representatives have performed notably better than their female counterparts at international level, with three of its four winners placing at Mister World.

The main aim is to send representatives to contest at Mister World. The last title holder is International Relations graduate Emmanuel Ikubese, his platform was Domestic Violence and the biggest achievement to date for the Mr Nigeria pageant show was when he emerged first runner-up at Mister World 2014.

The current title holder is Enwerem Nelson, who emerged winner in the recently concluded pageant on the 28th of October, 2018.

How to Apply

Requirement

The criteria for the competition includes Nigerian citizenship and at least a WAEC certificate, with the age limit being 18-25. Catwalk experience is also preferred, but not necessary.

Prizes for the winner vary each year, but have always included cash; as of 2014, it stands at N1,000,000, and some winners have also received a car. Mr Nigeria 2018 with the theme 'the ideal man ' will be held on the 28th of October at Silverbird Galleria, 20 contestants will compete for the title Mr Nigeria, once chosen, the winner uses his status to address the public about their platform. He will represent the country at the Mister World 2019 pageant show, which is expected to be held on 27 January 2019 in Manila Philippines, it will be the 10th edition of Mister World.

Previous winners have individually distinguished themselves especially in the entertainment scene, there are notable actors that emerged from Mr Nigeria which are Bryan okwara who was Mr Nigeria 2007, Deji Bakare was also a previous title holder in 2012 and even the current title holder Emmanuel Ikubese. Mr Nigeria shows that pageantry is also for men and not only women, it helps to promote confidence as the contestants battle to attain the title. This year's theme 'ideal man' is set to portray the standards to strive towards to, that is worthy of imitation especially for the young boys.
