Tips to Getting Ready for a Male Pageant

Getting ready for a male pageant compared to the female does not have much difference. Here are 10 tips of how to be prepared for a pageant show.

1. EAT WELL
You shouldn’t go on an extreme diet, but physical fitness is usually considered in beauty pageants. Physical fitness does not mean skinny, maintain a healthy diet and eat enough to have energy to work out. Eat plenty of vegetables, fruits, and drink a lot of water daily.

2. DEVELOP GOOD MUSCLE TONE

The athletic look is the preferred body type in pageants lately. You should work out at least 3 or 4 times a week, though people competing in pageants will often exercise almost every day. Engage in physical activities you enjoy like swimming, cycling, or dancing for cardio, but don’t overdo it. You should also use challenging weights at the gym 3 to 4 times a week to build muscle.

3. CHOOSE A TALENT YOU FEEL CONFIDENT PERFORMING
Certain talents are common in pageants like dancing and playing instruments. It’s great if you’re a talented dancer or musician, but if you’re not, don’t try to force your talent. Choose a talent that you’d feel confident performing.

4. PRACTICE YOUR TALENT
Practice makes perfect is a common phrase, and that’s because it’s true. Don’t wait until the pageant is just days away to practice your talent. Develop your routine and then spend time working on it every day. You should be able to go through your routine effortlessly so that you can focus on the performance aspect of the talent.

5. BE CONFIDENT
You feel nervous before going onstage, but that’s completely normal. Take a few breaths and visualize the routine you’ve worked so hard on before going performing. Go on stage with a smile and keep your head up. Even if you make a mistake, continue on and do not stop until the routine is over.

6. BE AUTHENTIC
You might think there is a typical “pageant personality,” but pageant winners have all sorts of personalities and interests. Don’t try to be anything other than who you are. You should be professional and kind, but sincere. Have fun with the questions and think about them carefully before answering.

7. STAY POSITIVE
You have to constantly cheer yourself and be your biggest fan. Stay positive even when you’re not doing well on stage. Once you start to doubt yourself negativity kicks in and you will lose. Even if you miss a question or trip on stage its not the end of the world anything can happen.

8. ‎PRAY
Put God first and he will lead you in the right path. Don’t forget to pray and trust in God with the mindset that if things don’t work out then its for the best.

9. SMILE
In order to create a natural smile rather than a plastic look, think of something funny before you go on stage or something that make you happy. Smiling should come natural and shouldn’t be a task, be happy and smile.

10. HAVE FUN
Make sure you have lots of fun. Make friends and memories that will last you a lifetime. If you are not having fun, then you are not truly enjoying it and if you are not enjoying it then why bother. The experience is all that matter, contesting for a pageant show alone is not an ordinary opportunity.
